This afternoon (26th), the Ningbo-Ireland Friendship Wall was unveiled at the Ningbo Cultural and Creative Port Time Corridor. In this large-scale mural artwork with the theme of “Dreams,” an astronaut dressed in a spacesuit appears on the 8-meter-high wall, conveying greetings to the citizens of Ningbo and narrating their shared dreams and friendship.
The creation of this large-scale mural artwork was jointly organized by the Ireland China Science and Technology Association and the Ningbo Municipal Government Foreign Affairs Office, with the participation of Irish visual artist and Shane Art Workshop General Manager, Shane Sutton, who visited Ningbo for the first time. Shane Sutton used acrylic paint and spray paint, taking 4 days to complete this science fiction-themed mural.
Shane Sutton said, “I have done many large-scale wall works, many of which are related to the universe and astronauts. I hope that through my paintings, I can lead you to look at our future. Creating this work in China makes me even more excited. The astronauts hold a paper airplane in their hands, because papermaking originated in China. The choice of the astronaut’s image is also a look at the great achievements that China may achieve in the future. On his body, painted with China’s five-pointed star and Ireland’s national flower shamrock combination logo, a symbol of our friendship forever.”
Wen Chen, Chairman of the Irish China Science and Technology Exchange Association, said that the exchanges between Ireland and Ningbo are becoming increasingly close, the fields of exchanges are constantly expanding, and the friendship between Ireland and Ningbo is increasing day by day. The large-scale wall painting art works unveiled today are the best testimony of the profound friendship between the two sides. Looking ahead, we believe that with the joint efforts of both sides, exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two sides will achieve greater results and deepen the friendship between the two sides.
