WrxFlo has won a new contract with a global technology company that provides over three million customers with financial service solutions, including card readers, smart and remote payment solutions, links, and gift cards.
Background
Our new client is Europe’s leading supplier of mobile point of sale (mPOS) payment terminals. With over 2000 employees, it operates in a hugely competitive market with low margins and therefore needs the manufacturing of its products to be as efficient as possible.
This company’s products are manufactured by third-party manufacturers located in Asia and South America, with their European team managing all the products. However, there were a few challenges with this system.
Issues faced by this multinational company:
This international company initially approached WrxFlo to see if it was possible to improve how they gather and analyse data from their production lines.
They had insufficient visibility of what was happening in the factory and little opportunity to deal with issues or influence the processes in real-time. Their European team would receive reports the morning after a production run was completed, whereas they wanted live data to help improve efficiency, quality and capacity.
The WrxFlo Solution:
WrxFlo put together a solution that uses Advantech (WrxFlo partners) hardware and software technology to connect to the programmable logic controller (PLC) which controls the production lines and equipment. This hardware will also connect to the radio-frequency identification (RFID) readers and scanners to capture information, and to the tablets that are used by operators. This solution handles the ingestion of data from the production line and then delivers this data to the WrxFlo platform for analysis.
We generally use similar equipment for any implementation. That’s the beauty of it for us – using standard hardware and software from Advantech makes it quick and easy for us to deploy and scale. —Tim Crowe, CEO, WrxFlo.
Once this initial part was completed, WrxFlo put together another solution including providing real-time data insights, live in any location on any device, a full historical record of every product and secure data transactions across several continents.
The WrxFlo solution also provided real-time line performance and throughput, quality, first-pass yield, cycle time and productivity.
Results from the project:
Since the deployment, lack of visibility is no longer an issue for this global company as they now have all the information they need in real-time on any device. Their engineers can now manage the process performance remotely from any location without the need to disperse their team across multiple sites.
Now, the team in Europe can see exactly what’s going down in the production line in real-time. They can see cycle time, test results, and all the metrics that are important to them – said Crowe.
Additionally, this company now has direct real-time process visibility, which enables the manufacturer to fix any problems immediately, thus minimizing delays and wastage. Their line capacity has also improved by 30%, and their quality improvement by 20%.
The project was piloted at a factory in Asia, but due to the success of this project, the client is now planning to implement the WrxFlo solution across two more manufacturing sites.
We are very happy to pass our TQM audit. The auditor was very happy to see that we had such an impressive system in place. I would like to say thank you to the WrxFlo team for their super support and for helping us develop this impressive system. – Global Director of Supply Chain
